Essays & Research Papers (2022-23 Application Season)

1. Personal Biographical Essay = 10-12 pages long. I require students to work on this Essay because in 95% cases, this is the first Creative Writing experience to an Applicant. This also prepares the students into Fast Typing while they also learn how to use 10 Fingers. You ONLY submit ONE Draft. It may be very good or very bad, it does not matter. 
2. Common App Essay = 650 Words. This is the FLAGSHIP Essay that goes to the Admissions Committee and it is discussed and Debated by the Members of the Committee. Best writers write around 12-20 essays and I pick the best to WORK on it and Refine it to a PERFECTION.
3. Covid-19 Essay: = 250 Words. This essay is on the Common App portal and you are strongly advised to respond to this Optional Essay. For Top College applicants, anything optional is actually Mandatory. Here is the topic as it appears on CA: Community disruptions such as COVID-19 and natural disasters can have deep and long-lasting impacts. If you need it, this space is yours to describe those impacts. Colleges care about the effects on your health and well-being, safety, family circumstances, future plans, and education, including access to reliable technology and quiet study spaces.  Please describe how these Events have impacted you. 
4. Additional Information Essay =  650 Words: This is a strange Essay. You develop the ideas for this essay by (1) Reading Novels, (2) Philosophical Essays, (3) Literary and Cultural Theories by specific Theoreticians. This essay (Optional) tells the Admissions Committee that you are one of the UNIQUE Applicant and your inclusion in their college will be a matter of great satisfaction as it will improve the College's Intellectual Diversity.   
5. Why Major: Even after getting admission to Colleges and studying there through 1st and 2nd year, Students reach back to me to tell me how significant is the writing of Why Major Essay. "How can I write a GOOD Why Major Essay?" is one of the commonest Q. I hear from students. Today morning, I gave an extremely detailed response to one student. Here is my response:
• Go to your chosen academic-field at any top research university. 
• There are info on Each Department. Search these. There are list of Current Researches listed under each Department/Discipline. These are sometimes done in collaboration with other US and European universities. You can take your ideas on Why Major essay from these Departmental News, Professor's Personal Webpage, Research Student's page kept on the Univ website. You can also take CUE from  any other Top Research Colleges such as Duke, Stanford, Cornell, MIT, and definitely Cambridge (UK).
• You can rest assured that writing a top Quality WHY MAJOR will break your nerve. 
• After you have produced several drafts (oh do not ask how many), and after you have made me sit in silence as I look in wonder into your intellectual journey, then your Why Major is ready. 
• Possible length of Why Major is anywhere between 500-2500 words. 
6. Technical Research Paper: First, it is to be understood that a well-drafted Why Major Essay precedes any primary attempt for a Technical Research Paper. As you work on your Why Major and read a HUGE amount of Technical Literature, you will SHOWLY become aware of your own Research Paper Theme. This Research Paper is between 1 & Half to 2 & Half pages long. It also includes a FULL Page of Bibliography. Thus the Research Paper is between 3 and 4 pages long. Very rarely it is 5 pages. Never more than 5 pages, ever. 
7. General Research Paper: Although I call it a Research Paper, it is actually an annotated Book Review, but discharged at a very High Standard. I remember, one particular student who did not have an impressive O and A level grades and did NOT have impressive SAT scores, wrote a very high Quality General Research Paper, and got accepted into 13 Colleges. Till date it is a RECORD.
8. There is also a Special Paper that someone might be willing to send. But I discuss this only when someone has shown a HIGH level of aptitude by submitting a final version of Why Major and an AMBITIOUS Technical Research Paper.  
9. Resume: It will be around 2-3 pages in length. We include some common activities such as Logophiles Writing Program and Veranda. 
10. Portfolio of three things: Paintings OR Music OR Photography. However, in previous we submitted Recitation and Creative Writing as well. 
11. Study the following Infographic. Then write your response in 100 - 200 words to this Question: As an Applicant, which Type or Types of Research Paper will be prepared by you?
