should show high level orientation with Greek, Roman, Renaissance and
Sanskrit literature as well as Modernist literature. (e.g. Homo-erotic
relations between men presented in the poems of Catullus and link it to
modern times. May be a reference to Stoppard's play.)
- Modernist
writers – James Joyce, T.S. Eliot, Virginia Woolf, D.H.
Lawrence, Henry James
- Classic
American writers – Herman Melville, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar
Allan Poe
- Try
to create a connection with your culture and the west.
- References
to Art, Culture, Paintings and Sculptures should be present in the essay
- Some
artists include – Pablo Picasso, El Greco, Vincent van
Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci
- Shakespeare’s
works are highly important for a good essay.
- Start
out of context; make a comical, simple but complex opening.
- No
pessimistic views; it must be optimistic. It can be a analytical and
appreciative.
- Keep
the essay in an aura of mystery and intrigue to keep the reader attached
to it.
- Essays
should be within 700 words and can be on any topic unrelated to each other.
Topic can be of anything random or absurd that comes to your mind.
- Practice
makes a better essay – write at least 20 essays before expecting a
constructive review on your essays.
What I understand after reading this is that my essay can be about absolutely anything. Also you mentioned the relation to literature. However, I could not really find that heavy relationship with literature in all the essays that I read, especially the ones from STEM background students. So I think I just keep on writing anything and everything about myself many times as you mentioned that at least 20 times is mandatory.I am not a good writer so I am a bit skeptical as to how I will bring about these literary tools.
