Our Tasks for the Upcoming ED / RD Application

This following post is a special note for Ramisa, Jannat, Aryan, Uzayr, and Naqvi. I also welcome Mehjabin and Juhaina in our working group. Welcome aboard!

Every year Logophiles Students keep themselves busy over preparing Application Materials in spite of a general atmosphere of Eid and other festivities. This year is no exception either. I have been posting several works online so that you all get sensitized at an early period. Three things have been crucial in making Logophiles students getting admission to top universities. These are the three things:

  1. Top Notch essays with extraordinary level of thoughts amalgamated through fine level of rhetoric practice. Students will get this high level of linguistic excellence by reading selected Reading Materials.
  2. The Reading Materials are provided through two Gateways = first, we work with the 101 Book Titles suggested by Collegeboard. The second Gateway is provided by this BLOG as there are a number of Mandatory Reading Items.
  3. In addition to general Reading Materials (101 Book Titles + BLOG readings), we also work for the Technical Research Paper. The length of this paper is somewhere between 2½ and 3 pages PLUS one full page of Bibliography. So, it is a total of 3½ to 4 pages at most. In writing the Bibliography we follow the Chicago Style Manual with page Footnotes, and end-paper Bibliography in numbered alphabetical order
  4. Reading selected titles of 101 Books will significantly improve your Critical Reading on SAT.
  5. The Technical Research Paper is one of the most Advanced Tools through which we inform the admissions Committee that we are Well Prepared for undergrad program with top professors.
  6. Finally, there is this General Research Paper, which is based on your Critical Reading of a recently published Book (Novel / Non-fiction). The length of this general research paper is somewhere between 18-30 pages. We use the same Chicago Style Manual footnotes and end-paper numbered Bibliography.
  7. Those who are planning to apply to Top-25 Colleges and expect a good amount of Financial Aid are also strongly advised to keep working on different types of portfolio. BUT, not a COMBINATION = Art/Painting, Photography, Music, Theatre, and Creative Writing.
  8. Keep in mind, that we also have to prepare 3 Mandatory Essays for the Common App. These are as follows:
      • The Flagship Essay based on any ONE of the 7 Topics = Max 650 Words
      • Community disruptions such as COVID-19 and natural disasters can have deep and long-lasting impacts. If you need it, this space is yours to describe those impacts. Colleges care about the effects on your health and well-being, safety, family circumstances, future plans, and education, including access to reliable technology and quiet study spaces. Please describe how these Events have impacted you. [Max 250 Words]
      • Provide any additional information you wish to share. [Max 650 Words]. We playfully call it Add-info Essay. This essay is a super-extraordinary way of telling the Admissions Committee - How you have ACADEMICALLY prepared yourself for College Level Intellectual Journey. In my EYES, this is the SUPERSTAR essay that gets you inside the Golden Circle.
